Take Time to Look

Antelope Canyon - near Page, AZ

The idea to start a blog is a strange one. I've had it in the back of my mind for years, but how annoying is it to write a blog about.. yourself? Really annoying, which is why this won't be just about me. A "lifestyle blog" as they say (whoever "they" are). I want to share experiences, art, beauty, travel, books, and sometimes just my opinion on the stranger things in life.

As I get older I realize more and more the importance of looking. I mean really looking. At everything. The sky, the ground, the people around you, the art on the walls, even the posts in your blog feed.

I recently read an article in The Atlantic linking beautiful surroundings to happiness. It seems obvious, but reading it in some way gave me a reason. A reason to spend whole days hiking through the woods. A reason to spend my Friday night inside with only wine and an oil painting. A reason to instagram that picture of the perfect slice of pizza.

So, instead of continuing to ramble, let's start now... look at the view from a mountaintop over 14,000 feet in the air. Really look. And just try not to be happy.
